Aaron Judge’s Home-Road Splits Are Definitely More Suspicious Than Jose Altuve’s

The Houston Astros were able to get a reprieve from the constant hate thrown their way in 2020 once MLB was shutdown back in March. Fans who planned to hate on the team in person about the sign-stealing scandal will have to wait until at least 2021.

At the start of this year, though, fans found themselves preoccupied looking at specific stats to prove that the Astros were indeed stealing signs. Home and road splits were one supposed key piece of evidence, and Jose Altuve notably had much better results at home than on the road in the 2017 postseason. Add in the allegation he wore a buzzer in the years that followed, and the court of public opinion had certainly reached a decision.

That being said…when you expand the sample size…Yankees star Aaron Judge looks even worse than Altuve. And with rumors swirling about a sealed letter, this is intriguing, to say the least.

A player doing better at home compared to on the road is not too wild of a concept, but Aaron Judge’s splits are far more extreme than Altuve’s when looking at their entire careers, as opposed to just one small set of time.

The New York Yankees are now also facing some semblance of sign-stealing allegations as well, even though those in the know claim there’s nothing extensive to see in Rob Manfred’s confidential letter.

Of course, though, we can’t assume anything without proof, and seeing the drastic difference between Altuve and Judge shows that home-road splits aren’t enough evidence. If someone really wanted to focus in on Altuve’s numbers as a be-all, end-all, Judge’s are a quick and simple defense.
