Respawn Entertainment appears to have added an undocumented change to the L-STAR in the latest patch Apex Legends Season 5.
The L-STAR, briefly thought of as one of the strongest weapons in Apex Legends at the start of Season 4, has largely been discounted because of its recoil and the muzzle flash caused when firing. The buff addresses neither problem, but reportedly gives the weapon a niche advantage.
Following a patch pushed to live servers Wednesday, the L-STAR now operates with 100% accuracy when fired from zip lines, Launch Pads and when in mid-air, according to YouTuber DistinctGamer101.
DistinctGamer101’s tests, shown in a video published Wednesday, indicated several weapons benefitted from increased in-air accuracy, including the R-99, but only the L-Star enjoys perfect accuracy.
Respawn Entertainment’s brief patch notes for Wednesday’s update claimed it affected only Mastiff spawn rates and Gibraltar’s shield ability text, making no mention of the mid-air accuracy changes DistinctGamer101 observed.
