Oh, you thought the New England Patriots were rolling into Training Camp with Jarrett Stidham and Brian Hoyer as the two options behind center? How cute.

Weeks have gone by since the Carolina Panthers parted ways with Cam Newton. It was rather unceremonious, and left Newton with a bad taste in his mouth. Since, Newton has tried to prove his health the only way he can during the COVID-19 pandemic; with hype clips that would make any videographer jealous.

On Sunday night, Newton finally found a home, and it’s the potential destination we thought made the most since all along. Cam is a New England Patriot, and assuming he’s right, the rest of the AFC East should be incredibly worried.

Newton was at his best in his 2015 MVP season, in which he threw for 35 touchdowns to just 10 interceptions while leading his Panthers to the Super Bowl. Since, he’s dealt with numerous injuries, including most recently feet and shoulder injuries, that have kept him from making significant strides back towards the playmaking we all got to know and love.

With months to heal, Newton is entering his age-31 seasons and could even be an upgrade to the production the Patriots saw from Tom Brady last season, although it’s far too early to make such definitive proclamations.

The NFL is better with Cam Newton playing a prominent role. Bill Belichick gifted us just that.
